The Author
J.J. Mercury has always believed that readers were desperate for tales that would not only sweep them off their feet but also satiate their thirst to think. If books are the greatest achievement of human speech, then ought not we writers strive for greatness in our books?
He writes many things, from literary fiction to dark fantasy. His current flagship work is the Lady Raven series, a dark mythological work set in a Detroit where demons bargain and the dead sing. The saga spans a millennium into the High Fantasy world of King of Calaban.
It is J.J. Mercury's intention to create high-quality fiction for high-quality readers, which he does in the suburbs of Michigan with his wife and two children. He and his family dream of one day moving to the country to raise chickens and sheep, but for now they content themselves with a luxuriously soft rabbit and a preposterously friendly golden-doodle.
J.J. Mercury has never done anything interesting in his life, unless you count being so poor he and his wife slept on the floor for the first six months of their marriage, mission trips to remote islands, or working full time as a landscaper since he was eleven years old. He has also gone to school for theology, lived in three different states, and has seven brothers and one sister. He was homeschooled (which accounts for all those strange mannerisms), and built a twenty foot tall trebuchet in his backyard when he was seventeen. He is a monarchist in a day of senates and el presidentes, a traditionalist in a day of individualism, and a firm believer that Narnia ought to be read to every child no less than once a year (when a child is old enough for Tolkien, do that, too).
He is perfectly feral in his love of the medieval, so, please, for the sake of his family, don't bring up the Enlightenment, or else neither he nor you will have any rest for a week.
